Hi! I'm Sumin and I am the President of Stepping Stone Tutoring. I am a junior in the STEM Magnet Program at Montgomery Blair High School and I have attended the STEM Magnet Program at Takoma Park Middle School. My favorite subjects include math, computer science, and biology. I enjoy helping others learn new things and my experience as a tutor has helped me improve myself as a tutor and student. I have been doing rhythmic gymnastics for 7 years and am currently coaching younger kids to share my passion for this sport. I ranked 5th in the 2019 Rhythmic Gymnastics Junior Olympics Advanced Group and scored 12th in the 2019 National Level 9 Classic Championships. In my free time, I like to craft, play the viola, and take pictures. I'm so excited to meet and tutor you all!

My favorite subjects include biology, journalism, and math. I have volunteered and taught students at the MCPS elementary-level summer program. I’m excited to use that experience to help more students. I enjoy dancing very much, and I’ve been dancing since I was 5 years old. I’m currently training in classical Indian dance. I’ve won various awards, and I would love to use my knowledge to help you! I’m also a staff writer on our school’s online newspaper. For the past year, I’ve been taking a journalism class, and I’ve also written articles for our program’s newsletter. I look forward to meeting and teaching you!

My favorite subjects are math and science, specifically biology and psychology. I plan to pursue a career in medicine in the future because it will give me the opportunity to pursue my passion while helping others. I've also been taking Spanish in school for the past 4 years, which I really enjoy. I love teaching kids and I served as a tutor at my local library this past year. I'm so excited to be able to use this experience to help you all learn and love these subjects like I do. In my free time, I enjoy dancing, playing piano, and playing tennis. I also debate competitively on the Blair Circuit Debate Team and I reached elimination rounds at a few tournaments this year. I'm really excited to meet and work with you all!

Hello! I'm Samantha, the Director of Outreach and a junior in the STEM magnet program at Montgomery Blair High School. I enjoy spending my free time playing sports, whether it be volleyball, soccer, track, or biking. Over the years I have gone to nationals for volleyball, participated in a weeklong bike ride across Iowa, and won numerous division championships in soccer. In terms of tutoring qualifications, I’m a staff writer on Silverchips, the school newspaper; SilverQuest, the magnet newsletter; and InnovateX, an economic organization. Additionally, I’ve taken school Spanish for 5 years and have visited Spain, where I fell in love with the country, culture, and language. Through tutoring, I hope to teach you a lot about these subjects and I’m excited to work with you!

Hi, my name is Joey Lien. I am the Director of Membership at Stepping Stone and a junior at Richard Montgomery High School. Over the years, I have coached volleyball clinics and counseled a variety of summer camps, all dedicated to teaching young students. Thanks to my participation in these clinics and camps, I have experience teaching basic Math, English, and interacting with students of all ages. Throughout my middle school and high school career, I have also been studying French and the fundamentals of the beautiful language. I am an avid reader and my favorite subjects include English and Creative Writing! In my spare time, I love listening to all kinds of music, playing the piano, and writing. In the future, I have decided to pursue a career in business because of how greatly I enjoy working and collaborating with others. With that, I can't wait to meet all of you!

Hi, my name is Albert and I am the Director of Communications at Stepping Stone. I'm a junior at Montgomery Blair High School, studying in the STEM magnet program. I previously participated in the Takoma Park Middle School STEM magnet and Cold Spring Elementary GT programs. This year, my History Bowl team and I swept the DC-area History Bowl regionals, and I won the DC regional bees. I am also a member of Montgomery Blair’s Quizbowl team this year, becoming one of three to represent Blair at the It’s Academic TV Show, where we became semifinalists. I prides myself on his knowledge of European and Chinese history, and regularly edit pages for Wikipedia. Through tutoring, I hope to get as much experience in teaching history as possible and fill in the gaps of my knowledge and to get me more acquainted with historical teaching techniques and standard curricula.

Hi! I’m Alex and I’m the Webmaster of Stepping Stone Tutoring. I am a freshman in the engineering magnet program at Wheaton High School and previously went to the Takoma Park STEM Magnet Program. I enjoy sports such as swimming and cross country and I’m a major science nerd. I’ve been on Science Bowl teams for the past 2 years and worked as the Webmaster for a non-profit throughout middle school. I am also nearing a decade of karate training and 6 years of dominance in the 18 and under division of the US Triathlon. Additionally I have taken Spanish for the past 4 years and I would say semi-competent in the language. My hobbies include coding, biking, and reading philosophy works that I don’t understand. And as part of our team, I am looking forward to spending hours in the dark of my room making our website as good as possible.

I really enjoy learning about science, specifically biology, because of how it connects everything in the world. In the future I plan to pursue a career in biology and help others. Other subjects I enjoy are math and Spanish. I have taken Spanish for the past 5 years in middle and high school for the , and plan on taking the AP course as well next year. I enjoy working with kids, and I have spent my past two summers working at my local Sunday school as a counselor. In my free time, I enjoy participating in tennis, viola, and debate. I previously attended the Math-Sci program at Roberto Clement Middle School. My favorite subjects are math and science, as I am quite intrigued by the many practical and useful applications these subjects bear. I hope to pursue a career in medicine. I am also my grade's class president and am passionate about debate, along with various other school clubs and activities. Howdy! I’m Ryan and I am currently a freshman at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. I went to Nysmith School for the Gifted and I enjoy learning programming, physics, and calculus. In my free time, I play a ton of tennis and work on smaller STEM projects. STEM is important as it teaches students necessary skills for the 21st century, which include: collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and much more. Some of my extracurricular achievements include: winning the Junior Team Tennis regional tennis tournament, qualifying for the NSDA Public Forum National Tournament, and making it to the Math League States competition twice. While I am not sure whether I want to pursue physics or computer science, I find all the topics that come with STEM intriguing. I am exuberant to be able to teach others about various STEM subjects and debate!

I am excited to share my love of different languages with you as your grammar and French tutor. In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, and acting. Hello! My name is Aiden Kim. I'm a junior at Chantilly High School. I am a nationally ranked USTA tennis player. I have been playing competitive tennis at the national level for the past four years and have traveled all over the U.S competing against other nationally ranked players. I was selected to play as a member of the Middle Atlantic regional tennis team for the Zonals 14 and 16 years old on two separate occasions. I also play varsity tennis for the Chantilly High School, a state champion team. My experience of helping beginners has motivated me to teach the fundamentals of tennis, which are essential for any beginner to enjoy the sport and reduce the chance of injuries. I enjoy my math and science classes. In previous years, I represented Virginia in the Math league national competition in Houston, Texas.

Hello! I'm Roshni Arun, a junior at Wootton High School in Rockville, Maryland. I'm passionate about science and technology, and I hope to follow a career in medicine in the future. In middle school, I attended a STEM program at Takoma Park, where I first realized my interest in science and technology. Since then, I've been part of a local high school robotics team, where we've won first place consistently at regional and state championships.  Beginning high school, I've also invested time in volunteering at my local hospital, where I aid staff, patients, and visitors and complete other tasks. In my spare time, I enjoy painting, drawing, and especially hand-lettering and calligraphy, which is what I will be contributing to this organization. I'm excited to be your next calligraphy tutor!

In my free time, I enjoy volunteering and doing other community service. Along with a few friends, I run a nonprofit specializing in work with children. I really like working with kids, and especially helping those in need. In the future, I hope that I can pursue both of these interests by becoming a doctor. As a student in the STEM program, I have a lot of experience in science, computer science, and math. Outside of school, I have participated in many county science fairs, and am a programmer on Blair's robotics team. I have previously tutored several students in math and other subjects. Hello! This is Jeanne, a junior at Thomas S. Wootton HS. I’m very enthusiastic and love helping others! I was a teacher assistant at Matsunaga Elementary’s after-school Korean club, so I do have some experience with students. Tutoring is so much fun and rewarding because I want to help students who are confused or feel helpless- I was once a struggling student too! My favorite subjects at school are math and science, and I’ve also been playing violin for 8 years. I’ve been in Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras from 2013-18, American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras since 2018, and MD All-State Orchestra since 2017. My name is Jiaoli, and I am a junior in the magnet program at Montgomery Blair High School.  Being in the STEM-oriented magnet program has given me a deep understanding of math and its applications in other STEM subjects. My interests lie at the intersection of language, math, and computer science because I enjoy being able to express/explore new ideas. I have been programming for six years, and have learned a lot about CS through classes in the magnet as well as AP Computer Science A. My interest in computer science eventually led me to cryptography, where I began to learn about how information can be transferred publicly without others understanding. I am currently learning French in hopes of being able to connect to many people around the world. I am excited to meet all of you who are just as excited as I am about exploring fun concepts in math, computer science, and language. See you there!

I also enjoy singing and have been doing so for 10 years now. I have learned a variety of songs from italian to musical theatre to pop and have performed at Strathmore. I was a part of my school's Show Choir team and will be in the Acappella team this upcoming school year. I have also participated in many school musicals including Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and High School Musical. Participating in these musicals made me realize how much I love performing and being on stage and I am beyond excited to share what I have learned from my experiences with you guys. Learning in a STEM oriented environment has let me to gain a deeper understanding of how math and science connect with the rest of the world. Spending my summers on the Eastern Shore has led me to further understand the connection and taught me to love marine biology and ecology. While some of my favorite subjects include biology and chemistry, I am passionate about art. I have been painting and drawing for over 10 years and previously taught a clay-figurine making class. I have also created art for SilverChips, my school’s newspaper and SilverQuest, the magnet program’s newsletter. I hope to use my previous experiences to share my knowledge on these subjects. My experience with volunteering at the C&O Canal is what got me so interested in the subject. As for Spanish, this will be my 6th year of learning the language. I hope to eventually minor in the subject in college. In my free time, I enjoy mountain biking and hanging out with my pets -- two cats, a dog, and a scarlet macaw. For the past 3 years, I have been sharing my love of music by teaching piano to underprivileged elementary schoolers. My name is Maya Britto and I am currently a sophomore attending Montgomery Blair High School's magnet program, which focused on STEM education. I worked as a tutor at Benjamin Banneker Middle School for two years. I believe that all of us have the ability to become as great as we want to be, as long as we are willing to work and learn. Hello! I am Ruhama and I am a senior at Montgomery Blair High School. I am very passionate about world languages. I'm originally from Ethiopia, and in my journey of learning English it sparked an interest in me to learn about other languages and cultures around the world. I enjoy the challenge that comes with learning a new language and the satisfaction of overcoming that challenge. I took Spanish courses from seventh grade up until my freshman year in high school and American Sign Language (ASL) for the last 3 years. I previously was a tutor for Spanish 1 students in my high school. Languages have helped me meet new people and interact better with my peers and I hope to help you do the same. I am very excited to meet you and work with you!

My name is Emmanuel Ngu Fomundam, some people call me E or Eman or Manuel or even manny. I'm a senior at Paint Branch High School that's a student-athlete playing football. I always loved football since I was about three and always seen myself with football in my life. During my free time I train for football and I'm always doing something football related if it's either training or watching the NFL or watching game film. I enjoy math such as geometry and algebra and I think I can help tutor you all.

I am passionate about robotics and my favorite subjects include math, computer science, and physics. In my free time, I enjoy drawing, watching movies, listening to music, and playing the guitar. Reaching out to those in need of help is something I am enthusiastic about, which is why I am also a part of a nonprofit organization, Youth and Families United, to help families in the poverty crisis, and a volunteer at another organization to help and teach elementary and middle school students conduct science experiments. I also have experience in science olympiad and this is my first year as a science bowl member and a robotics team rookie. Though I have experience teaching siblings, I've always been wanting to tutor more students in high school to interact and share my skills. Steeping Stone is such a great opportunity for this and I am really excited to work with you all!

In my free time I enjoy cleaning around, tutoring family and close friends, and even learning new languages although fluent in Spanish and English. I am very enthusiastic about tutoring as I love working with kids and helping them In their unique way. I have been a student aid in an after-school tutoring program so I'm familiar with working with kids and even changing my teaching style as needed. In the upcoming years I wish to study Psychiatry but I'm open-minded to any possible option. Although my introduction may be short and vague I can't wait to start touring you guys! I am a member of the Jewish Community Club at Blair, along with the Debate and Current Affairs club.

Hello! My name is Isabel Corvington, and I am a junior at Montgomery Blair High School in the Communication Arts Program (CAP). I enjoy learning about history, government and english both in and outside of school. In addition, I’m passionate about politics and activism, and I hope to pursue a career in public policy. In the past I have worked with local volunteer organizations to help those within my community, and I have worked with children through summer camps and other tutoring programs. In my free time, I enjoy film photography, listening to music, spending time with my friends and participating in Blair’s Youth and Government club. Bo Jie Li

Hey!! My name is Bo Jie Li and I’m a freshman at Winston Churchill High School. I am honored to be a tutor and give back to the community. My favorite subjects in school are math, science, and orchestra. Activities I enjoy are swimming, volleyball, tennis, and violin. I swim for RMSC and qualified for the PVS Junior Olympics in 2018. I also have played at an all state tennis tournament in 2019, where I was nationally ranked. Additionally, I’ve been playing violin for five years and participated in the Maryland Classical Youth Orchestra, Potomac Valley Youth Orchestra, and Maryland All-State Orchestra. Academically, I made the Varsity Science Olympiad team and placed 8th overall at regionals, qualifying for states. I look forward to meeting everyone!
