Anushka Poddar

Arnav Poddar

Hi, I'm Anushka! I'm the President of Stepping Stone Tutoring and a senior in the STEM magnet program at Montgomery Blair High School. I am passionate about math and science and in the future, I hope to pursue a career in medicine. I've also been studying Spanish in school for the past 6 years and I love learning both the language and the culture. Outside of school, I enjoy listening to music, playing guitar, and doing Indian classical dance. I also volunteer at Howard University Hospital and serve as the captain of the Blair Debate Team, where I compete and mentor students in public speaking and debate. Through tutoring, I hope to build connections with students and help them grow in the subjects they are studying. I am very excited to meet and work with you all!

Hi! I’m Arnav, and I'm the Vice President of Stepping Stone Tutoring. I am a senior at Montgomery Blair High School. I have a passion for STEM, specifically physics, computer science, and math. I am currently taking multivariable calculus and linear algebra, and am planning on taking the highest level of computer science courses offered at Blair next semester. Outside of academics, I am an active member of the school’s robotics team, in which I am project lead. In my first three years of high school, I was a participant on both the county and national level debate teams for Blair. In the future, I plan on studying computer science with an application in physics or astronomy. Some of my hobbies include guitar, frisbee, and biking. I’m very excited to be part of Stepping Stone, where I am able to help students learn more about what they are passionate about.

Hannah Choi

Hi there, I'm Hannah, and I'm the director of media! I am currently a junior at Winston Churchill High School. My favorite subjects are math and English. I love reading a variety of books and discussing different issues, whether that about global warming or political science. I am also passionate about all things music from musical theater to the violin! Since middle school, I have performed in musicals, plays, and BLAST concerts within my school. Moreover, I have played the violin for eight years, and have participated in the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra of Strathmore, Young Musicians Inspiring Change, and Potomac Valley Youth Orchestra for many years. In addition, I love working with children and in the past have volunteered at summer camps at church and korean school! I'm so excited to be part of the Stepping Stone Team and work with you all!

Djenabou Bokoum

Hey! My name is Djenabou Bokoum and I am the Director of Outreach at SST. I am currently a junior at Paint Branch High School, where I am in the medical science career pathway program. My favorite subjects include science and social studies. I love anatomy, as well as learning about different cultures and how our world works. I would like to pursue a career in medicine in the future, as helping others and giving back has always been a passion of mine. I partake in medical science club, the African Student Association, and several different local student advocacy groups in the county. In my free time, I love to read, listen to music, and watch a lot of TV shows. I love working with children and volunteer at my local daycare, where I assist in helping kids with their homework. Through the experience, I have gained great patience, responsibility, and leadership skills. I'm really excited to put those to practice and dive in and work with you all!!

Hello! My name is Anannya Trehan and I am the Director of Operations at SST. I am currently a junior in the STEM magnet program at Montgomery Blair High School. My favorite subjects are math and computer science. I am on the robotics team at Blair and frequently participate in Hackathons throughout the school year. Outside of school, I like to play piano, read, dance, and listen to music. I am passionate about helping people and have a lot of experience teaching young children, as I volunteered at a Montessori day school a couple of years ago and regularly help my little brother with his homework. I have also been volunteering with Stepping Stone for the past 2 years. I’m super excited to meet and work with you all this year!

Sumin Choi

Hi! I’m Sumin and an advisor for Stepping Stone Tutoring! I graduated from the STEM magnet program at Montgomery Blair High School and I currently attend the University of Maryland at College Park with a major in cell biology and genetics. In my free time, I enjoy crafting, golfing, and biking to chase sunsets. As the former President of SST, I’ve gained insight from various students, tutors, and staff and learned a lot about leading an organization. I hope to use my experience to help SST grow and reach more people in our community. I’m excited to continue my work with Stepping Stone and so grateful for our wonderful team!

Hey! I’m Tharindi Jayatilake. I'm an advisor for Stepping Stone and I graduated from the STEM magnet program at Montgomery Blair High School. I currently go to the University of Maryland - College Park. My favorite subjects include biology, journalism, and statistics. I have volunteered and taught students at the MCPS elementary-level summer program. I’m excited to use that experience to help grow Stepping Stone. I was the former Vice President of Stepping Stone Tutoring, and I really enjoyed the experience of running the organization and helping students grow. I look forward to continuing my work with Stepping Stone Tutoring!

Lyndee Sklute

Fiorella Urioste

Hi! My name is Lyndee Sklute and I am a junior at Winston Churchill High School. I enjoy playing lacrosse, reading books, photography, biking, listening to music, and being with friends and family! My favorite subjects in school are everything with math, science, literature, and government! I aspire to be in a computer science or psychology field! Besides learning at school, I am the creator of the Voice for Silenced club, with a mission to advocate for victims of abuse! Also, I really love kids, so weekly babysitting is one of my favorite activities. I also have enjoyed being a summer counselor at the Bullis Summer Camp and my local synagogue for the past 3 Summers. Being the vice president and past communications manager in my Jewish youth group has taught me how to be a proper leader. I also work seasonally at a local bakery near by, which has taught me patience and efficiency. Overall, I am super eager to use all my skills and teach kids in an educational and fun way.. I will strive to create a comfortable environment where all students feel welcome and able to ask questions!

Hi, my name is Fiorella Urioste. I am a sophomore at Walter Johnson High School. I have a passion for helping people in any type of form, I do a lot of community work around moco. I hope to one day pursue a career as a criminal justice lawyer, or pursue something in the field of criminal law and justice. I have a strong passion and bond with kids, as I am in a child development program and I have helped them with tasks. I have good social skills, I love to help those in need, I love to spend time with my friends, especially my best friends. I know how to cook. I was captain of the JV cheer team for WJ, we won first place in our division for counties. I have a strong passion for leadership and being apart of a team. I love gymnastics and cheer. I speak spanish at home, I am a native speaker, I also speak english. I believe I am pretty good at elementary math, reading and writing, and helping develop spanish skills. I am open to helping out with more skills that are within the reach of my knowledge.

Hi I'm Anika Moodliar!
I am a tutor for the Stepping Stone tutoring team. I am currently a 9th grader at Clarksburg High School and in the APPS program there. I enjoy dancing, science and playing my viola and helping others.  I have also been learning Spanish for 4 years!  I also do karate and am currently a brown belt. With this wonderful opportunity given to me by Stepping Stone Tutoring I hope to help students and build connections with them. Through tutoring I want to make them successful.

Hey! My name is Dylan Furbay and I’m so excited to join the Stepping Stone tutoring team. I am currently a junior at Landon High School. I love to draw and paint, as well as produce short form writing such as poetry and flash fiction. At school, I am an editor for our arts publication, Prometheus Unbound, and lead various clubs, like Asian Student Association, Meaningful Conversations, and Ally Council. In my free time, I enjoy reading and playing the piano. I look forward to tutoring students and helping them build confidence in their classes and academic skills!

Dante Ogle

Hi! I'm Dante, I'm a tutor for Stepping Stone. I'm a Freshman at Gaithersburg High School. Some of my favourite subjects are History, Science, ROTC and last but not least English.Some of my interests are Aviation, Cars, Ships, Military history and history. I love music and film as I mentioned earlier planes. At the moment I've participated in Book Wars and I'm slated to compete in several orienteering and rifle team and drone piloting competitions for Gaithersburg NJROTC. I also play guitar which I've been playing for nearly 7 years now.I personally love teaching and all of the challenges involved with it. I can't wait to help any and everyone who I teach.

Hi, I'm Ranesh Yarubandi! I'm a sophomore at Clarksburg High School, where I'm in the PLTW engineering pathway. My favorite subjects include math, history, and science. I hope to pursue a career in finance as I enjoy working with numbers and like-minded people. I also love getting involved in clubs in school and outside! I have been playing club soccer for 6+ years, I am a sprinter for the Clarksburg Indoor Track team since freshman year, served as a Cadet Senior Airman in the Civil AIr - Parkland Squadron, and partake in the YMCA Maryland Youth in Government Club. Through these experiences, I have gained valuable knowledge in leadership, communication, collaboration, and resilience. I hope as a tutor, I can help students reach their full potential and improve their skills in various subjects.

Hi! My name is Lullata and I am currently a sophomore at Sherwood High School. In my free time, I like to read, listen to music, and paint occasionally. Hello! My name is Gideon Nohe and I am a Freshman at Winston Churchill High School. Outside of school, I enjoy basketball, football, paddleboarding, and band among others! Nice to meet you! I’m Daniela, and I’m a senior at Northwest High School! Art is my passion, and in school I’m the club president of Creative Corner, an art club I started my sophomore year. I’m also a soprano section leader in my school chorus, which performs at a variety of events and competitions. I’ve earned A’s in AP courses, such as AP English Language, AP Spanish Language, and AP English Literature. One of my hobbies is writing to pen pals across the globe! In the future, I hope to become a diplomat. I can’t wait to connect with you!

Hi! My name is Aarna Rastogi! I’m currently a sophomore at Thomas Wootton High School. I absolutely love science, especially astronomy, and like to think of myself as pretty good at math. I hope to go into an astrophysics career where I can follow through with my passion to explore the universe. I love to read, listen to music and play guitar in my free time, which I have recently begun learning. In the past, I have volunteered at a daycare and I like to think that I’m pretty good with kids. I’ve also volunteered at my old elementary school, so I supposed I’m pretty good with teaching!

Hi, I'm Sudeep! I'm a sophomore in the middle college program at Northwest High School. I am passionate about math and computers. I hope to pursue a career in computer engineering. I've also been studying French in school for the past 4 years. Outside of school, I enjoy listening to music, playing the guitar, and playing games with my friends. One of my favorite hobbies is swimming. I have been competitively swimming since I was eight years old and have taught other swimmers how to swim. I've learned so much through high school and I want to pass on my knowledge to you guys. My name is Maya Britto and I am currently a senior attending Montgomery Blair High School's magnet program, which is focused on STEM education. I worked as a tutor at Benjamin Banneker Middle School for two years. I believe that all of us have the ability to become as great as we want to be, as long as we are willing to work and learn. As a tutor, I teach Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. I hope that I can help tutees find joy in math and learn to have fun learning new concepts even if they may have difficulties at first. In my free time, I enjoy painting, playing the violin and practicing Indian classical dance. I look forward to forming great relationships with many of you!

Hi! My name is Estefany, and I am a senior at Montgomery Blair High School. Given the opportunity to help through tutoring is a great honor. I am currently apart of multiple clubs such as The Crime Club, Philosophy Club, and the young democrat Club. I am passionate about activism and politics; this connects with the career I hope to pursue in corporate law/criminal justice. At the moment, I am enjoying learning about NSL Government, algebra two, and Yoga as more on the fun side. I have worked with many students here in the United States and El Salvador with mathematics and the English language. Hi! My name is Dami and I am a junior in the STEM magnet program at Montgomery Blair High School. I am passionate about robotics and my favorite subjects include math, computer science, and physics. In my free time, I enjoy drawing, watching movies, listening to music, and playing the guitar. Reaching out to those in need of help is something I am enthusiastic about, which is why I am also a part of a nonprofit organization, Youth and Families United, to help families in the poverty crisis, and a volunteer at another organization to help and teach elementary and middle school students conduct science experiments. I also have experience in science olympiad and this is my first year as a science bowl member and a robotics team rookie. Though I have experience teaching siblings, I've always been wanting to tutor more students in high school to interact and share my skills. Steeping Stone is such a great opportunity for this and I am really excited to work with you all!

Hi! I’m Nethaka Jayatilake and I’m a sophomore at Richard Montgomery High School. My favorite subjects include math and science, due to their vast connections to everyday situations. I have volunteered in assisting the elementary summer programs at MCPS and gained some experience teaching other students. I have participated in STEM events for the past 3 years and it has encouraged my passion for math and science. I have been studying Spanish for the past 3 years and I am continuing through high school. In my free time, I like programming, reading,
and playing the piano. I have been playing piano for the past 6 years and it is a stress-relieving hobby of mine. My goal is to tutor students so that I could help them understand a subject as
well as solidify my understanding of the subject as well. I hope to tutor you soon!

I'm a member of the key club at my school and hope to join SGA and other clubs next year. I'm very academically motivated, as I take on challenging courses and have skipped a grade, and I hope I can help others feel just as motivated:)

Hey! My name is Melat Wonde and I am currently a sophomore at Springbrook High School. A few passions of mine include enviornmental conciousness, world geography, volleyball, and christianity! I enjoy watching movies, grocery shopping, taking walks, listening to music, and learning about chemistry. I also love going to church, hanging out with my sisters and cousins, and most of all, theme parks! I hope to gain experience and help out other students through this wonderful program! Marion Poirot

Hi! My name is Marion Poirot and I am currently a sophomore at Winston Churchill High School. Some of my passions are law, government, and math (specifically, algebra). Some of my favorite subjects in school are AP NSL, chemistry, and english. I am also interested in psychology and hope to learn more about it in the future!  I am very friendly and love meeting new people! Some of my hobbies including playing the saxophone and piano, baking, hiking, watching movies, and reading books. I have been playing the piano for 9 years and the saxophone for 6 years. Additionally, I am fluent in French and English (I speak French daily at home), and I have been learning Spanish for 5 years and plan on continuing throughout high school. I am currently in Boy Scouts, and have been for the past 4 years. Through those years, I have been able to learn many leadership skills, as well as patience and flexibility. In the future, I hope to become an attorney and be able to help and defend people. I am looking forward to being able to help my tutees! Can’t wait to meet you!

Hi! My name is Alec Kong, and I’m a sophomore at Maret School. My favorite topic in school is history, particularly modern history and modern military history, which have been lifelong passions of mine. I find it very interesting how countries and groups of people interact with each other and how this sometimes leads to conflicting beliefs and ideas. I am also part of the Model U.N. team at my school, and I also enjoy attending my school’s Quiz Bowl Club meetings. I also am the leader of the Geoguessr Club at my school, which is one of my hobbies that involves playing an online geography guessing game. My hobbies include reading, driving, listening to music, and playing ultimate frisbee. I hope to work for the foreign service in the State Department sometime in the future. With Stepping Stone Tutoring, I can’t wait to help students achieve their goals!

Benjamin Katz

Hey, I’m Benjamin Katz. I’m a freshman at Bethesda Chevy- Chase High School, where I’m a member of the Speech Forensics Team. My favorite classes include AP Computer Science, Biology, and Algebra II. At Westland Middle School, I received the Certificate of Academic Excellence. I love music and play guitar and piano. I enjoy playing basketball and working out with my friends at the gym. I previously attended the John Hopkins Center For Talented Youth summer camp, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and the Airforce Legacy Craftsman Camp. I volunteer at Nourishing Bethesda, supporting individuals in need. I am passionate about helping

Hi! My name is Evodi Kabamba and I’m a sophomore at Quince Orchard High School. My all time favorite subject is math and I’m looking to pursue a career in engineering. I also love music! I sing, play the flute, guitar and piano. Some of my other interests and likes include being a track athlete, working out, cooking, drawing, and being a Christian. I currently volunteer at Quince Orchard Library and have some tutoring experience from French Honor Society. I look forward to using that experience in being a helpful tutor and creating an awesome space for you guys to learn!

Hi! My name is Alexa Cohen and I am a freshman at Winston Churchill HS! In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, baking, and spending time with my friends. My favorite subjects in school are math and history. Im looking forward to being able to help tutor students through this program as I love to spend time with kids and help them in any way I can. Currently, I am tutoring other elementary students in person as well and I work at my synagogue with Hebrew classes! I’ve loved both of these experiences and I can’t wait to be able to tutor more!
